It definitely doesn't have enough power to be a main device but its great for browsing the web. I downloaded chrome and it seemed to use too much RAM so I am sticking with the built in Edge browser. The key board is really wonderful and great to type on. The laptop in general is pretty stiff and doesn't feel cheap. The trackpad is a little twitchy but that should be expected with most windows trackpads. It has multi touch gestures which work for the most part. For the price you can't beat it. If you want something a little more than a tablet but not quite a full laptop or desktop. I understand that this is a cloudbook and the idea is to access files from the cloud but this is a joke. Also, the resolution is maxed at 1366 x 768 pixels which is no biggie (competitors have much better screens/resolution) but the screen suffers from terrible viewing angles so don't even think about using it to view videos with multiple people as their experience will be miserable. Additionally, websites look very pixelated on this machine. Otherwise the machine is decent for web browsing, it struggles with high resolution videos on youtube. The 2GB of ram is a mistake as it would have only cost a few cents more to add a 4gb stick with significant improvement on the OS responsiveness. While I applaud the concept of a windows based cloud machine, Acer needs to go back to the drawing board and take a few more notes from the chromebook line. The only good perk about... The laptop performs perfect. I use a flash drive with movies on it since the hard drive is small. The outside of the laptop is white so most likely it will get dirty, but not a deal breaker. A Mr clean eraser cleans it right up. Boot time is very quick, but the hard drive is very small. Windows 10 is not my favorite but I'm getting used to it. The laptop is very light and thin and the display is good enough for a movie. I like the non glossy screen because it has very little reflections when watching movies outdoors. When the lid is closed in standby it looses about 10 percent of the battery every 24 hours. I left it in standby one day and windows 10 performed updates while it was in standby and ran the battery down. I keep it in airplane mode now when it's in standby to keep wifi activity from doing updates. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? |
