I cannot stress enough for people that had problems with the smaller display version (more popular on amazon)...all problems can be rectified by updating your drivers immediately before trying any heavy duty games. This has been awesome, games are fluid, and it's a powerhouse. Very satisfied with my purchase and while I was nervous when it came, the driver updates solved all concerns. This kicks butt and I couldn't be happier. Will check back in time if changes but for now - this does exceed my expectations for gaming and everything else. 83 of 87 people found the following review helpful Perfect., October 9, 2017 This review is from: Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop, Intel Core i7, GeForce GTX 1060, 17.3" Full HD, 16GB DDR4, 1TB HHD + 256GB SSD, Black, PH317-51-787B (Personal Computers) I bought this from Costco, at the time it was being sold for 1099.99 and the price has gone up to 1199.99 (in a months time) which is still cheaper then here on Amazon. Anyways... Let me warn everyone who's checking this one out, I had bought the 15" model before this one and this one does NOT have a metal top cover. Only a metal chassis under the keyboard where your hands rest. That being said the plastic used on top is definitely not cheap and I don't see there being any issue with it. (It has a brushed metal look which looks decieving in pics). If your looking around online and are seeing people say the Helios overheats, it does. BUT so does every other laptop running the i7 7700hq. Doesn't matter if it's a 2500$ Alienware if it has the i7 7700hq then it overheats. You can undervolt the CPU and cache to -0.125 max and temps reduce drastically. You can also combo the speed shift eep (on throttlestop) and gain cpu/gpu performance. For some... I bought it after researching what laptop i could get the best specs for for the best price (which im sure is what most people do) The only issue i ma having so far is that the mouse pad is almost useless. Sadly i enjoy using the mouse pad option on my laptops but this thing is a joke. WHen i try to click/move something, the click function causes the cursor to move about a centimeter away from the target location, making it almost impossible to actually click on the desired target without using an external mouse. For money i spent on this computer, i think it is pretty crappy that it was not produced with a usable mouse pad. So just be warned, you will most likely need to rely on an external mouse to make this machine function properly. |
