My sample was able to be undervolted by 100mV on Intel XTU so that the CPU can keep the boosting over 3GHz at all time which is good for an Ultrabook. RAM (4/5) Comes standard with a Single 8GB DDR4-2133 MHz RAM, there is an extra slot which you can use, I added another 8GB stick for a total of 16GB. Dell says the maximum is 16GB but I'm pretty sure you can go up to 32GB RAM on this one. GPU... I really hope Amazon and Dell didn't remove my review due to one negative comment I made. Here it goes again. We like this laptop so much we sold off a 15.5" ACER that my wife had been using and she switched to this one. The smaller size Dell is lighter, thinner, and fast enough for my wife's use. One feature that both my wife and I didn't like about the larger 15" laptop was that it had a numeric keypad built into it. That naturally forces the keyboard to be shifted to the left relative to the screen. We just can't get used to having that offset. In fact even on my desktop computer I use a keyboard without the numeric keypad which makes the distance from the keyboard to the mouse shorter. We also like the backlit keyboard. Both my wife and I use our computers in areas that can be quite dark in the evening where the lights in the room don't illuminate the keyboard. This 13" Dell has a full... While the laptop is plastic, it does feel well built and sturdy. I don't know how I feel about the touchscreen yet. I'm an avid user of iPads and MacOS so touch on a laptop seems strange to me. Adding the touchscreen here, you can clearly see a compromise on the size and quality of the screen. Touchscreens have a bit of a sparkle look to them from angles and the screen is only 13.3" while the side bezels extend out into 15" laptop territory. I'm guessing at 15" touchscreen would cost too much. You are also limited to 1920x1080 resolution, which looks a bit weak when you are used to a MacBook Retina and other higher resolution displays. When you set the display to the native resolution you can get the better experience (viewing wise) however the touch aspect gets very difficult to interact with due to... Read more |
