I thought maybe there was a chance I could get over the weak battery issue, however, for the second time now, after the device went to "sleep" I could not get the screen to come back on at all, though clearly the device was still on. I just don't think this thing was quite ready for primetime, let alone mass distribution. Oh well... Well... Where to start? Let me preface this review by letting you know that I have now had the machine for a full four days. I received it Sunday morning, and have been using it since. Unfortunately, if not regrettably, I feel at this point that I would be remiss if I didn't send it back for a refund. Is it just junk?? The answer is a resounding "NO". On the contrary, it's a beautiful and functional device. Let me start by pointing out the redeeming qualities of the Dell XPS 12. Screen: Stunning. Gorgeous. Sharp. 4k. Over the years, I have owned too many... Battery life still all over the place., February 3, 2016 This review is from: Dell XPS 12 XPS9250-4554 12.5" UHD Touchscreen Laptop (Intel Core M, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD) (Personal Computers) I'm going to go much easier on this machine than the other reviews - I do not (yet) have any of the hardware issues they have seen, but I do have issues with some of the design decisions mentioned by the others. Let's start with the good: At $1249, the machine is priced quite a bit below the main rival - the Surface Pro 4. I now own both, so I feel I can comment on the differences. First of all, the price difference; The Dell XPS 12 is (currently) $1249 in its 4K/8GB/256GB version, with an m5 processor. The Surface Pro 4 in i5, 8GB/256GB is priced at $1299. Main difference is that the the Dell comes with a keyboard and hybrid case. The keyboard from Microsoft is another $129. The Dell has some other advantages; USB 3.1 with Thunderbolt support, more ports, 4K display, better card reader. Then there are the things the SP4 excels at; faster processor, adjustable kickstand (more on that in a moment), more accessories. The Surface Pro 4 also... Unfortunately, it has been quite difficult to get it started, you press the power button on the right side top, wait for 4 sec (at least) and sometimes it starts. Today it did not start at all. Does not accept CRTL-Alt-Del or anything, Dell chat is not available, attempted several times, phone support requires more than 25 minutes to get a customer support specialist, so far not resolved, if this does not get resolved in the next few hours, the next step is to return the product. Update, I had to return this product, More details: if the laptop is set to sleep, then most likely will not start again, it would start after shutting down, wait for some time and maybe it would start. The docking was unreliable, sometimes the keyboard would turn on as it ok, but then it would not respond to keystrokes anymore. I consider that customer support was not helpful, they...
