After a couple of years of extremely heavy use, my Toshiba Satellite was getting a little testy. Keys were starting to stick, there was a flaw in the display, and the power jack was loose, which meant that half the time I couldn't get it to charge. To replace or reset the power jack, I'd have had to remove the battery, keyboard, hard drive, and CD drive, as well as disconnect the keyboard, touchpad, etc. Sooooo many ways that could go wrong. So even though it wasn't really in the budget, I started shopping for a new laptop.

My requirements were at least 6GB RAM, a 17" monitor, Windows 10, at least 750GB hard drive, and less than $500...preferably less than $400. I found what I thought was a good replacement directly on HP's website, but after checking with someone a bit more knowledgeable about processors, I was directed to this one instead. I've had my laptop for a few weeks now and LOVE it! Setup was easy and issue free. I was previously using an older model HP that was running Vista Business...so as you can imagine Windows 10 is a huge change for me, but this system has made it easy for me to make the switch. Although I love all the updated programs on this laptop, I was very happy that I was able to load my old Works 9 program on this system (I've kept a journal using this program since I was in junior high and didn't want to lose it). I was apprehensive about buying a laptop online and having it shipped, but I've had absolutely no issues and am extremely happy with this purchase.

Excellent laptop. Large screen, light weight, easy to connect to an external monitor, keyboard and mouse, if desired. Great for routine tasks and web browsing which is what we wanted. Not designed for high end gaming, which we did not need.
