278 of 285 people found the following review helpful Great little computer after removing bloatware., January 21, 2017 This review is from: HP Stream Laptop PC 11-y020nr (Intel Celeron N3060, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB eMMC) with Office 365 Personal for one year (Personal Computers) I've had this computer for about a month. I use this laptop for my online class. I had to uninstall some bloatware and change some settings to get it to work faster, but it is a great little laptop. Don't expect to play an intensive games or edit movies with this laptop. It's good for doing work or school related things, browsing the Internet, and watching Netflix. Pros: -Very small and lightweight. I can easily lift it with one hand. -Aesthetically pleasing design. I love the purple color and the finish. -Small design makes it very portable. Easy to fit into backpacks or briefcases. -Relatively fast computer, takes no time to startup/shutdown. -Good keyboard Cons: -Speakers are pretty quiet and poor quality. Recommend using headphones for watching movies/listening to music. -Webcam is also subpar and pretty grainy. -Touchpad can be finicky, using a wireless mouse with it is really easy though. -32GB hard drive can... I wanted a laptop that I would use primarily for writing, both personally and at work. My only requirements were that it be extremely portable and cheaper than the average laptop. Maybe the difference between me and the negative reviewers is that I bought this laptop with a complete understanding that this should not be used as a primary PC, even though it is marketed as one. It ships with quite a lot of bloatware, and I'm not computer savvy enough to get rid of all of it. I used information gleaned from other reviewers to remove a lot of what I don't need, and plan to ask someone at work to go through the rest. I inserted a 16 GB micro SD card from my old Android phone, and deleted everything on the card except for my old pictures. I still have more than enough room for both work and personal items. I use primarily Microsoft Word and Excel, so these programs don't typically take up much space. The only thing I store... The HP Stream is probably the best deal right now for a name brand $200 computer. Their 11 inch notebook now has 4 GB of RAM, up from 2GB in last year's model which does make a noticeable performance difference. The best part is the price is the same. The added RAM allows for better multitasking and better overall performance for slightly more demanding tasks. The reason is that adding the extra 2GB of RAM added an additional memory channel which feeds data to the processor faster. This resulted in faster web browsing performance and even a boost in Minecraft performance. But make no mistake: this is not a performance machine. It's good enough to run Windows and many basic apps adequately enough to get the job done but not much more than that. It might be a great choice for kids as its limited internal storage and overall performance will not play modern games all that well (if at all) but does nicely run...
