27 of 28 people found the following review helpful Worth every penny!, December 3, 2016 I got this laptop on sale for $450. It was worth every penny! PROS: -Speed: The processor plus the 12 GB of DDR4 RAM makes for a very smooth machine. -HD Graphics: Something that is not mentioned is the *6GB* AMD Raedon graphics chipset. Yes, it is a laptop and is not desktop grade, but it makes a difference. -Great sound: I was actually surprised at the crisp sound. Laptops generally fall short in this department. -Size: It is not overly large or thick, but the monitor is the perfect size. CONS: -Heat: It can get a little hot. It hasn't been too much of an issue, but I'm sure that further down the road, it will be a problem that will need to be addressed. -Noisy: It's not a very quiet laptop, which honestly is to be expected from something with so much power. -Windows 10: Okay. This is likely not an issue for some people, but I absolutely detest Windows's new operating system. It's... So let's get down to business and analyze this little beauty a bit closer. PROS: This is a nice laptop in terms of overall fit and finish. Very high quality construction. It is very thin and light as well, so for those of you looking for something that is good size but not particularly heavy, this will more than meet your needs. Hardware specs are very, VERY competitive for a machine in this price range. Hard drive is decent, processor is pretty quick, and a respectable amount of ram. Plenty of peripheral connections as well. Cost and overall value: big points here. I have always purchased PC's from top manufacturers, Dell and HP. You would never get a computer packed with all of these features for the price at either of those manufacturers. Range on the WIFI is great. It pulled in a signal as good as any laptop I've owned, and in fact... At this point just a few fairly standard programs had been installed (Minecraft and Skype). As what seems to be stardard operating procedure the programs were blamed. As it turns out, it was not the programs and the replacement laptop (same model) has worked fine for months now with the same programs and more installed. It only took a few months for my daughter to break the little end (the piece that goes into the laptop) off the power plug. She (unlike her sister) takes better care of things and while I do expect such things to happen (through no fault of the manufacturer) I find that this end piece is very thin (less than half the diameter of the plug for my laptop) and it would not take much to bend or break it. Overall, if you do have a problem it was handled and the properly working version has performed well. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? |
