Plugable USB-C Dock and Dell TB16 Thunderbolt 3 Dock both had issues. Razer Core far from perfect but had fewest deal breaker issues. Purpose for Purchase/Scope of Review After reading some articles on Thunderbolt 3, thought it'd be great to have a Blade 14 be both my desktop and occasional mobile solution. I further wanted to declutter my desk and make my old PC a dedicated NAS/server. I considered the XPS 15 9560 very seriously, but having quite literally owned Dell Latitudes my entire mobile computing life since 2003 with the Dell D400, I wanted a change. I really enjoyed the aesthetics of the Razer Blade. I watched all of the YouTube reviews from Dave2D to LinusTechTips regarding this notebook and simply fell in love. Background: I do not game on my computer. I do not consider myself a Power User, but I do consider myself a Tech Enthusiast. My previous PC was a... There are QC issues with this laptop (2017 FHD model) concerning backlight bleed, dead pixels, warped chassis, and loose LCD bezel at the bottom of the screen. Potential buyers should know that Razer uses two LCD suppliers in the 2017 Full HD Blade. AU Optronics and LG. Every unit I've tried (from other retailers aside from Amazon) that used the AUO panel had a combination of dead pixels, dust specs, bad backlight bleed, and a heavy green / yellow tint out of the box. This is par for the course for anything AUO, same issues plague their high refresh gaming IPS monitors. In fairness, my replacement had an LG screen and one half of the screen was a different hue than the other half, really distracting and I returned it. My 3rd and current Blade also has an LG screen and it is completely perfect. Zero backlight bleed. I experience no throttling or overheating during stress testing; all... I did have a technical issue with the first one, but Amazon is amazing when it comes to returns, they sent a replacement even before I shipped the broken one back, so that's a huge plus. PROS: +Extremely small and light +Very powerful (though it took some configuration to get it right) +Beautiful display +Excellent tactile feedback on the keyboard CONS: -Function keys are not lit up -Fingerprint magnet (minor, but annoying) -Gets loud under stress (not a biggie, I always use headphones) My primary use for this is work, though I do light gaming on it. When I initially started running some games on it, I got unusually low framerates. I found out that there are a lot of settings that need to be configured in the NVidia settings to get it to run properly. From factory, mine was set to override application settings and run everything maxed out, which game me...
