While designed for gaming, I use for my graphic design business. With a quad-core i7 pushing 8000 on the bench, loads or RAM, plenty of GPU power and dual solid-state drives (has HDD too) this thing can handle almost anything without breaking a sweat. Performance is seamless and there is never any lag. My memory-hog vector graphics programs are working much smoother and crashing less. I find the machine makes me more productive. Unfortunately, the case design is awkward and its unusual shape makes it nearly impossible to find a suitable carrying case. It is built like a ramp; taller in the back than in the front. Now the bad part. The speakers are HORRIBLE. I'm stunned and disappointed by this. I purchased a Toshiba gaming machine prior to this unit but ended up returning it. That machine had the Harmon Kardon speakers and they sounded great. The speakers on this $2500 sound no better than what you would find on a $389... I've had it for a couple months now. The larger hard drive that was added aftermarket I was installed and it seemed factory. It's a crazy fast gaming laptop and quiet to boot. Get about 50 minutes of gaming on the battery and it's big and heavy but that's all expected. My only issue is occasionally when it turns on it powers up but never posts. I just get a black screen. If I turn it off and back on it boots fine. Not a huge issue and I've read online a lot of people have that with the ROG. No fixes yet. Oh well, I'm sure this will run any game I throw at it for years to come, along with processing any photo's and/or video from the 4K drone or the DSLR. This laptop is a beast, and if your seriously considering purchasing it, I do highly recommend you find one in a local big box store and spend a bit of time feeling how heavy/bulky it is. If weight and size is an issue to you, this is NOT the laptop for you. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? |
