4.0 out of 5 stars A few issues, but most seem fixable., April 21, 2017
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm a bit surprised by the number of poor reviews already. While I've experienced many of the same issues, they've mostly been easy to resolve. The only physical hardware issue I've had is the Killer WiFi card. Its drivers simply don't work. Any network use over loading a small website completely halts any data being sent or received, sometimes for 5 or 10 minutes at a time. I'm waiting for Dells service folks to get back to me with a solution, but from the support forums it sounds like they're sending Intel WiFi cards out since those drivers work just fine. Pretty silly considering the Killer card works perfectly in Linux now, but those versions only come with the Intel card. Past the Killer card any other issues I've had are software related.

The most common issue seems to be the periodic freezing, even with really light use. It seems to be caused by the integrated Intel card not playing nice with the GTX 1050. For instance, Chrome will cause locks every so often while... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Great laptop at first sight, terrible quality assurance, March 16, 2017

This review is from: Dell XPS9560-5000SLV-PUS 15.6" Ultra Thin Laptop, 7th Gen Core i5 ( up to 3.5 GHz), 8GB, 256GB SSD, Nvidia Gaming GTX 1050, Aluminum Chassis (Personal Computers)

The XPS 15 9560 4K is a beautiful laptop for work, and with the dedicated GTX 1050 GPU even a good gaming laptop. Unfortunately this laptop has too much quality assurance problem and has large community of people seeing defects.

Pro/Con overall:
+ Beautiful screen
+ Carbon fiber chassis feels great while typing.
- Webcam placement makes it unusable while typing as the webcam picks up your fingers up close
- Unstable drivers, my chrome browser froze twice while writing this review. This is solvable with right software drivers, but you need to be tech savvy to install them when I wrote this review as they are not officially supported.
- Software based headphone jack switching is fancy yet terrible, constantly need to run a software to increase volume after using headphones.
- Terrible QA causing me to return 2 laptops.

First laptop problem:
- Mild coil whine noise while scrolling

5.0 out of 5 stars A smooth experience with an excellent machine, June 9, 2017

One Month Update 07/10/2017:
Everything still running very smoothly with this machine. Battery life just as good as when I first booted it up. Spotty wireless here and there is the only complaint I have for now. Still an excellent purchase.

Let me start by saying I was almost scared off of buying this laptop due to the abundance of bad reviews on the product page.
I was in the market for a reasonably thin, lightweight and good looking laptop, one that didn't scream: "look at me with my excessive red trim! I'm a gaming laptop and I want to make sure everyone knows it!" That being said, it needed to be able to play some of the latest titles on at least medium-low settings at 1080p. I needed something that would be equally at home in class taking notes and playing Battlefield 1 while I was shirking my responsibilities. After a lot of research, I just couldn't find any other laptop that hit that sweet spot between good looks, portability, and performance. And... Read more
